Usk Bridge
“Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.”
David Ogden Stiers
Family History has been calling again; there’s an open day at St Mary’s Priory Church in Usk and it seemed like an opportunity to once again see if I could trace where my grandmother went after her family left her behind with ‘aunt Sarah’ when they moved out of the area. A warm welcome at the church and the history group were very helpful and willing, but no new direct leads today, that said I did find out that there’s a church at Kemeys Commander (where I picked up my grandmother’s trail in 1911), so something to follow up on. A short walk to the bridge for me while K1 explored the shops, then we headed off to Kemeys Commander to explore the church, while K1 read her book in the car. Next stop Trostry Church, another possibility nearby. After all the excitement felt in need of refreshment so stopped for a light lunch at Craft Renaissance, very friendly place and the food is good too. Time for a nap…
