Tattoo VIP
The aftermath of the workout massage was pain, real pain in my lower left leg such that I couldn't get comfortable, couldn't sleep. There was a lot of tossing and turning but allowed me space to decide that missing out on the FofP was the sensible thing to do. I needed the rest plus the logistics were challenging.
I spent the day not rushing. Made my B12 appointment, organised taxis (not easy) and went to Flemings for stuff for a Mum. But the most important thing I did, before lunch, was book my KL tickets for next Jan-Apr. That took a while.
It also took a while to decide what I was wearing tonight to get having neither a uniform or black tie. But that done and two buses later I was at the Manor. The taxi was over 15 mins late, roadworks, but we got through the cordon and to the drop off ok. Next challenge was to get Mum up the internal steps at 16 Ramsay Gdns. She managed, with help from Paddy the ADC. On the way back down she was carried by Paddy and Jason, the Tattoo's CEO. Luckily a lift to the Royal Gallery!
Great view, no drones but it was so warm. Mum, and George, got a mention by Ian Murray (salute taker) in the post Tattoo reception, our brave heroes.
Getting taxi back was, yes, a challenge. The first one arrived very quickly at the cordon but left, apparently without checking that he would get up the hill. Then lots of calls as I watched drivers turn down the ride. Even Jason got involved, ordering another taxi. Luckily it was a warm, dry night.
Eventually after 45 minutes wait, watching folk go in for the 9.30 show, a taxi arrived and we were back 5 minutes before John arrived. Perfect timing.
He got Mum to bed and I got yet another taxi up the hill to home and bed.
Far away the girls finished the first week at their new school and Olivia won an accolade from her class.
And tonight, I think, ends Mum's special events, but who knows.
