……………………………Europe for the day!

A fabulous trip up the Jungfrau today by train, cable car and finally the Eiger Express then we had two to three hours to ourselves. L and I decided to walk around the discovery tour by ourselves rather than with the group and invited Helen, whose 80 year old Mum had opted not to do the trip, to join us. We had a lovely time firstly heading out onto the glacier where Helen and I opted for hot drinks and L hiked further down the glacier as she had boots on. She also hiked over another part of the glacier which we didn’t venture onto. We all enjoyed the ice sculptures in the Ice Palace. A lovely lunch was had before we made the return journey to Interlaken via Kline Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen. The transport was much improved from the old cog railways in use the first time I visited as a 16 year old!

L opted not to dine out tonight as she didn’t like anything on the menu - she’d had a substantial lunch, so I’ve had a lovely evening with Helen and her Mum Clare who we first met on the Eurostar as we were sat together. The whole group are very friendly which has been great.

Tomorrow we have a day to ourselves and although many of the group are joining the tour manager on a trip up the Schilthorn, L and I are going to head to the St Beatus Caves which I last visited as a school girl!
