Warm salad on a sad day
We spent most of the morning discussing the arrangements we have made/ still need to be made for a forthcoming local wildlife and environment fayre ( the "y" is very important !!) that we are organising. Various other local groups will be joining us there, with personnel and information stands telling visitors what they do. It is a lot of work for one day, but we hope we will recruit some new members to our group, and provide many useful networking opportunities.
This evening I made a warm salad using a new recipe I saw in last Saturday's Guardian newspaper. It contains charred corn, black beans, broccoli and halloumi, with a lime dressing. We both declared it good, and worth making again!
Later, I heard that my old boss, DD, had died early this morning. It was not unexpected, but it is sad. He was responsible for me coming to Winchester, more than 43 years ago, when he offered me my first graduate job. We worked well together, and I found him very supportive and a wonderful mentor, and we always remained good friends.
