About to turn

First and Cherry

I took the bus from Bellevue to downtown Seattle Thursday morning, an easy half hour ride west over the floating bridge across Lake Washington. It was the first overcast day of the whole vacation - we've been lucky - so no views of Mt. Rainier from the bridge. Spent a couple hours doing some editing at the Cherry Street Coffee House, recommended by my sister, but didn't get a lot done. Enjoyed walking along the waterfront past the ferry terminal, and then K picked me up on her way from West Seattle and we went back across to Bellevue and the rest of the family. In the afternoon, we drove across the more northerly I-520 bridge into the UDistrict to show Isabelle the spiffy new biology building on the beautiful University of Washington campus. (I may be biased.)

In the evening, a fun birthday party :-)

Extras: yellow cab along Western Ave, and the Smith Tower above Pioneer Square (once upon a time, the tallest building west of the Mississippi)
