Bridging The Gap

Ended up in Peebles yet again, having found two potential coffee-stops closed - no matter, we do like Peebles and there's a good choice of venues. By this time it was nearer lunch so in Coleman's we had a substantial sausages roll (Mr F) and a large filled roll (me, and which I still have half for tomorrow). A browse round the charity shops (did I spot a Blipper in one of them?) and found three titles by two popular writers.

On the way between carpark and the High Street I snapped the activity beneath the bridge, seemingly repairing stonework. This important task required the attention of two men by an ancillary boat, one holding a second boat steady, one in the water supporting the actual stonemason who is also in the water and one (out of shot) on the bank preventing access to the equipment. I can deduce the function of most of them, also the boat nearest may carry tools and any replacement stones.

Extra photo taken on our way back, with the shiny new stones in place and the second boat ready with a bucket for grouting them in.
