Variety, the spice of life

I've had a lovely and varied day through in Edinburgh mainly avoiding the busiest tourist areas. I met a friend at The Dovecot Studios for coffee and a cardamom bun before a guided tour of the 'IKEA: Magical Patterns' exhibition (in extra) then a look at the contemporary jewellery on display in 'Dazzle', then 'Vicoria Crow : Shifting Surfaces' up on the top floor of the gallery.
After a lovely vegetarian mezze in Mary's Cafe Bistro, we headed to the Scottish Parliament for 'The Atomics: the story of Dounreay's people', a discussion part of The Festival of Politics on over 3 days. My friend's father & my father & brother in law all worked at the former nuclear site at Dounreay and it was very interesting.  Also lovely to be back inside the Parliament building (main photo) on what turnout to be a beautiful sunny evening. I'm writing this on the train heading home and have plenty of time hence far more words from me than normal!
