Sally Mair - Loving life

Great Oaks

I had a call this morning from one of my old ladies, I had been going to take Communion to her. She called though to postpone as she wasn't feeling great. She's amazing she's going to be 100 in 6 weeks and still lives alone in her flat. She has such a great spirit, and is right on the ball. I love going to see her.
When I got home I'd had a message asking if we could get someone to trim the branches over hanging the pavement outside the church. Colin and I decided we could get us, so set off with loppers and secateurs. It took us under an hour and probably saved us £100 or so, so well worth it. I did get a message about an hour later saying thank you, it was nice to have it acknowledged. People are often very good at complaining but not saying thank you when things are resolved.
My blip is of some of the huge crop of acorns on one of our trees. Lots of great oaks in embryo form there. I wonder if any will make it!
When I got home I made a sausage casserole as the little girls are coming to stay over, while their mum and dad go to a show in the fringe. Their Mum will come and stay over afterwards which makes tomorrow morning much easier.
I went out to do my charity shop stint after that. The shop was very quiet today, so we got lots of tidying and sorting done.
