With cloud and a breeze
I ventured off to the park.
Pleased to find some deer.

I backed my car out of the garage at 6:30 to see chukars scatter in the cul de sac. There must be a dozen scrambling around this morning. They make their clucking noises and launch themselves onto the neighbour's roof as I drive by. I caught one on the roof.

I took the north entrance into McArthur Island Park. Once again, I was rewarded with three deer crossing in front of me. They paused at the edge of the slough before they slipped down into it.

I had a brief look at the Butterfly Garden before driving off to the south side. The garden is looking a little tattered. It is definitely over its best. I found a very stiff wasp that had spent a cold night. The marigolds, our city flower, were looking very good.

On the south side, I got a shot of my mountains but could not spot even one marmot. I sat on a bench overlooking the river and waited, but not one marmot appeared. Are they waiting for the day to warm up or are they already in hibernation?

I returned home to find the chukars still scouring my neighbourhood. I managed to catch one by the neighbour's front steps before they all disappeared again.

I'm home trying to book an electrician for a rental property issue this morning. This could take a while. Meanwhile, it's feet up to save the cranky feet.
