A Pony With No Name
We thought we ought to make an effort to get out today so made the short drive to the Sherborne Estate to do one of the standard walks there. We met a couple of guys from Belgium in the car park. They were having problems with the ticket machine so I helped them out and then suggested a walk. They did the same circuit as us, but clockwise, whereas for a change we did it anticlockwise. We were taking bets regarding where we might meet them again. In the event we bumped into them again at the shop, where ice creams may have been bought. The lady in the shop was really pleasant today, the first time that has happened!
To be honest we were surprised it was open on a Sunday. We were also surprised to see a pony parked outside. I didn't ask for his name.
I believe there is a song about a horse with no name. AI tells me it is a metaphor for escaping the chaos and pressures of everyday life to find solace and peace in a tranquil, solitary space. That would be Sherborne then.
When we got back to the car park though I had to help someone else with the ticket machine. I must email the NT and get them to fix it.
In other news we just had a video call with daughter#2. She is on holiday all week. She updated us about her amazing experiences at the recent Oasis concerts. No need to tell her what we have been up to - it is all in my blips. We did explain that were were discussing her poetry as we did our walk. She reminded us that as well as writing The Jigsaw Cloud and the Stratford haiku last year she also penned another classic, Waiting For The Doctor.
