Turnstones
We walked back up to Robin Hood's bay along the Cleveland Way this time (the tide was in) and then went further on along the coast past the rocket station and as far as Raindale stack. We then headed back to the village via the Cinder Trail. The view across the bay in both directions was great.
We got back to the village in time to have lunch and coffee at a cafe and enjoy a brief bit of free wifi connection.
We returned via the beach as the tide was going out. We watched the turnstones busily patrolling the seaweedy areas of the shore. I've not really seen these birds before and they were great to watch.
As we came back along the cliff, we spotted a bird of prey soaring next to us. Another couple suggested that it might have been a merlin - my first. They also told us to look out for seals on the rocks at the headland. Sure enough, there were about 20 seals just visible to the naked eye.
The sun was still shining when we got back to the house so we managed some time outside with our Kindles.
