My back wasn't brilliant yesterday afternoon, Jan's armchairs weren't very comfortable for me, and I'd decided not to go climbing today and to spend the day on a walk and exercises.

My response to climbing led Fi to ask me if I was sure about the Lakes, and of course she's been on a couple of Peak District walks with me lately and knows my back doesn't like uphill. I wasn't sure about the Lakes trip, I was in denial... but said I'd decide in the morning. I woke up, decision made, and told Fi I wasn't going to go.

I know its the right decision but its incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The others are beginning at Low House, Coniston, then walking to and staying overnight in all the Lake District huts belonging to the FRCC (Fell & Rock Climbing Club) ie Langdale, Wasdale, Buttermere and Borrowdale. There is another but we couldn't book it. Fi's husband isn't walking due to injury, but is extending the routes on his motorbike, and to lighten my load was taking a few items of mine on the bike.

I do like long distance walks, but unless my back improves I'll be limited to flat routes... I know, I know, it could be worse!

Anyway, out for a walk and I noticed the farmer had missed a bit!
