Es i i 'Caffi Trwsio' yn yr Hyb heddiw. Rydw i'n ei ystyried yn gam i gyfeiriad gwareiddiad. Mae'n well i drwsio pethau na eu taflu i ffwrdd, mae'n well ceisio eu trwsio, hyd yn oed os mae rhaid i chi eu taflu ar ddiwedd. Es i â ffrïwr aer oedd dim yn gweithio am fisoedd. Nid yw peiriant fy hun, mae'n perthyn i Daniel, ond roeddwn i awyddus i weld y proses yn y Caffi Trwsio.

Roedd y bobl yn groesawgar iawn ac yn drefnus da. Maen nhw'n bwcio fi a'r ffrïwr aer i mewn ac arhosais i gael fy ngalw. Roedd te, coffi a bisgedi yna ond doedd dim amser gyda fi i fwyta neu yfed, oherwydd fi oedd cyntaf yn y ciw.

Roedd y cam cyntaf yn brawf offer cludadwy i wneud siŵr bod yr offer yn ddiogel. Nesa, es i i'r bobl fyddai’n edrych ar y broblem. Gwnaethon nhw arbrofi'r plwg, ffiws a chebl ac yn olrhain y pŵer i fyny tan yr elfen wresogi. Gwnaethon nhw gasgliad roedd yr elfen wresogi wedi torri, ac roedd yr ffrïwr aer ‘y tu hwnt i atgyweirio economaidd’. Mae'n yr un peth i wneud pethau fel hyn yn rhad yn Tsiena, mae'n y peth gwahanol eu trwsio ym Mhrydain.

Yn ffodus mae'r Hyb yn casglu eitemau bach trydanol ar gyfer gwaredu, ac roeddwn i'n gallu gadael y ffrïwr aer marw yno.

Felly doedd hi ddim y casgliad yr oeddwn i wedi gobeithio amdano, ond roedd hi'n brofiad da o'r Caffi Trwsio ac ein hymgais ar fod gwareiddiad.

I went to a 'Repair Cafe' in the Hub today. I consider it a step in the direction of civilisation. It is better to fix things than to throw them away, it is better to try to fix them, even if you have to throw them away in the end. I took an air fryer that didn't work for months. The machine is not mine, it belongs to Daniel, but I was keen to see the process in the Repair Cafe.

The people were very welcoming and well organized. They booked me and the air fryer in and I waited to be called. There was tea, coffee and biscuits but I didn't have time to eat or drink, because I was first in the queue.

The first step was a portable appliance test to make sure the equipment was safe. Next, I went to the people who would look at the problem. They tested the plug, fuse and cable and traced the power up to the heating element. They concluded the heating element had broken, and the air fryer was 'beyond economic repair'. It's one thing to make things like this cheaply in China, it's a different thing to fix them in Britain.

Fortunately the Hub collects small electrical items for disposal, and I was able to leave the dead air fryer there.

So it wasn't the conclusion I had hoped for, but it was a good experience of the Repair Cafe and our attempt at civilisation.
