Cedar Waxwing

This is a first for me. I have never seen a Cedar Waxwing before that I’m aware of. This one was in a tree that is out back of our room. I couldn’t identify the bird with my naked eye but only tell there was a bird in the tree. Didn’t stop me from taking a photo and glad that I did.

Today we drove into Asheville and between the Inn and Asheville most of the Blue Ridge Parkway is in disrepair so it required driving a very steep and twisted road.

We love driving the Parkway but are not complaining as this has gotten onto country mountain roads we otherwise wouldn’t have taken and the scenery has been wonderful

In Asheville we walked along our favourite street and went into a couple of our favourite stores.

Asheville Chocolate is a must where we get their gelato and of course some chocolates. Then The Mast General Store. If I had a few extra thousand dollars to blow in there I could do it in a heartbeat. As it is, I got some of my all time favourite socks (Smartwool) and a new pair of Ecco sandals.

I also bought this metal sign (see extra) to add to my collection that I’ll be putting up on the screened porch.

Before heading back to the Inn we went back to the Moose Cafe to eat (where we ate Friday) as it’s a great place to eat. It’s beside the farmers market and that’s where all their produce etc comes from and it’s true country cooking.

Of course the one thing I forgot to bring on this trip was my night shirt, so I bought the Moose Cafe Christmas classic night shirt while there (see extra)
