Dug out
Well, the Big Dig is over, but this afternoon it was accompanied by the Great Stone Harvest. Goodness me, there were a lot of stones in the bottom end of that bed. The bottom end of the side garden is now fully dug over, and we have one plant waiting to go in it, which we procured at the market at Rogart Mart this morning, from a man who grows carnivorous plants. Essentially as a hobby, he said, although he's equipped himself with a sum up machine, so it must be a pretty serious hobby. Anyway, it's a sarracenia (or pitcher plant or trumpet pitcher). It likes a bog, and boy do we have one for it! There is only about one square metre which is really boggy. The rest is a bit "heavy" but should be fine for whatever we want to put in it. We really have no idea right now.
The rest of the collage is Rogart Market focused and includes a sense of the location both in the Mart (not pictured but the inside is featured in a collage here and now in Mr A's blip) and - especially - outside with a view across the valley behind. We agreed that the market got top marks for both location and atmosphere and we were pretty keen on what was on sale too. We bought some interested painted glasses which might feature in a future blip. As well as some of the goats cheese that also features in the blip. In fact, it was probably our top Highland market experience yet. I'd only been once before, in December 2023, so going back this summer with Mr A was definitely an achievement unlocked as it's only four times a year.
After a grey start, it turned into a lovely sunny day, more or less about the time we pitched up in Rogart. By the time we got back here, it was thoroughly warm, so further trips out to the supermarket (two were needed in the end) as well as garden work were accomplished in shorts and a top in my case. We also managed to sit out for a bit, both at lunchtime and later, but there really are a lot of wasps this year. I think we killed about four between us. Another one got in my beer. Boo hiss. Anyway, in addition to finishing the Big Dig, we also tidied up a bit round the front and Mr A both watered the garden and washed down the path again, as it ended up covered in soil.
