Strumaria discifera

Another of the slightly weird but beautiful bulbous plants that I grow.   From the south western Cape, the first sniff of moisture initiates growth.   The flowers come before the leaves, umbels of tiny and relatively widely spaced.  It grows just a few inches high.   Not especially hardy, I grow it in a pot in the greenhouse.

A backblip, a day late.   Friday was a busy, non-work day where I did chores, made bramble jelly, sorted some more bulbs and did a bit of pottery hand building, another teapot in gestation.   The day culminated in an outing to The Magic Lantern for the Friday night live music.   I parked 300 metres away from the cinema.   The music was about loud enough there!   70's rock probably best describes it.   Needless to say it was much louder inside but it was still a good night.  I couldn't catch any of the lyrics but the virtuoso guitars, violin and drums were high quality and the enthusiasm was infectious.   I was meeting two of the Tuesday singers so had company ... and we could chat between songs!
