All change

I won’t be walking Ivy and Leo to nursery any more as she starts school in a couple of weeks.  Very exciting for her.

They enjoyed posing for this photo outside their nursery gates but both go into a demented round of ‘cheeeeese’ so the trick is to try and get them in an off moment so it feels more natural. Ivy is going in for a full nudge of Leo here.

Caught an early train home, picked up the mini key from the wine store where V had left it and had a good day catching up.  It was hot and sunny all day and I made the most of it, sitting in the garden (although I had to do a big call in the barn office.  I watered everything as we’re away for a couple of days.  The grass is brown, the dahlias humming with colour, mainly reds and oranges and the trees still so deeply green.

V came back and I made a salmon salad which we ate outside.  As it grew dark we went back into the house and watched another episode of Narrow Road to the Deep North which is getting tougher.  It’s very well directed.  I have just finished Question 7 written by the same writer and recognised the fluidity of the narrative style.  Question 7 is an exceptional book, part auto biography, part history, at times so powerful that it was hard to do much other than put it down and think.
