Stroud Street

In walking through Belfast to the bus station I came across this in Stroud Street.  I was attracted by the old red brick work contrasting with the colourful wall mural just off Great Victoria Street.  I am not sure what it means and even despite the vandalism perpetrated to it, it still caught my eye.

Then I discovered a mystery, the street sign clearly states Stroud Street, but the older and original damaged street sign above it is quite different - so what is the story behind this?  I will have to find out!
