It's Flower Friday!
Today our friends left us after breakfast to go on to visit friends and then A's brother before return to Australia.
Mr MC and I didn't do much after that as it is still very warm indeed and humid. I did manage to photograph the very beautiful yellow roses that our friends brought when they arrived and this is my flowery blip for today.
Today marks the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Mr MC and I watched some of the events to mark the day on television and observed the Silence at midday. The few surviving veterans are now well over 100 so they will be unlikely to be around for another marking of this event, sadly. On BBC Radio 4's Today programme the author of The Narrow Road to the Dark North,Richard Flanagan was interviewed. The miniseries from that book has affected me deeply.
