Power

Mr A has been pretty busy over the last couple of days on some DIY projects. He has installed a new rotary washing dryer in the back, which required him to get rid of the old one, dig out a new hole, fill it with concrete, and put the new one in, which we made use of today for the first time. Very nice....if possibly a slightly larger size of rotary dryer than we really needed.

Also today, he power washed the side garden path, which I photographed when it was still wet. It looks even better when it's dry, even though it's "only" a concrete path. To see the side garden (taken from the bottom) in its more or less original state, I often refer to the bottom left of this blip. I've featured many of the improvements over the last couple of years, and in one of the "improvement" blips, it is possible to see the state of the path before power washing - i.e. pretty much covered in moss - in the extra. Now we have a tiny amount more digging to do, plus possibly (although not necessarily compulsorily) trying to figure out what the ponding issue stems from (my preference is just to plant something there that doesn't care about getting its feet wet because the rest of that end does not appear to be that wet at all), and pretty much the whole side garden will have been retrieved from the previous depressing mess, and the only survivor will be the famous peony. Anyway, TBC, but I was happy to have this opportunity to blip the side garden path for my records. For the records, also, we've ordered new gates to be made for both "front" and "back" (actually the back gate is in the side garden because of the largely triangular nature of this plot).

We took delivery of two more bags of wood chip from N&A (will be useful for the completion works), who called round with H also in the car, to pick us up to go to a Sutherland Sessions concert at Edderton Village Hall. Mairearad Green and Mike Vass were excellent. I've added an extra, as I still have plenty, mainly to show evidence of one of the main Highland obsessions - the raffle. None of us won prizes tonight. :-( A fun gig with a variety of music, some of which involved reinterpretations of very old "traditional" musical tropes. Quite thought provoking at times and very relaxing.

It was a good way to round off a week that has had some high points, and a few lows.
