Life is a Challenge!

HOT AND THIRSTY WORK!

There is a lovely family who live just down the road from us and we noticed the other day that their fence was being creosoted - not exactly the best weather to do it, but I guess if you have student children, then why not get them working!!

When we got back from our coffee date with friends this morning, I noticed that the daughter, M. was hard at work, but there was thankfully some shade, as you can see, so it wasn’t too hot, although the temperature had climbed to over 30°C in the car.  When we got home, I told Mr. HCB that I was going to speak to her, which I did - but she was obviously not going to be distracted from her work and carried on with the creosoting whilst we chatted.

I did ask M if she was wanting more work during her holidays then she should call on us and we could find her some fencing to paint and would even pay her, but it would be awful in our garden, especially in this heat, although she did say if there was anything else she could do to help us, then she would - she is so sweet!

I also asked if I could use her photograph and she was happy for me to do that, so here is the lovely M. wielding a paintbrush.  They haven’t long come back from visiting family in India, so I asked her if it was as hot over there, but she told me that it had rained a lot, so even she isn’t used to these high temperatures.

Both Mr. HCB and I have had enough now and just want this weather to break, and I’m sure we are not alone - we can’t even sit in our garden because it is so hot - you can see the temperature on our weather station is 37°C, which is now in the shade and the hygrometer reading is 22.   Apparently, low humidity (e.g., below 30%) can lead to dry air, which can cause discomfort and health problems - it is certainly causing issues with us sleeping at the moment!  The clock is an hour behind because Mr. HCB doesn’t change the time twice a year - but don’t ask why!

Hope everyone has a good weekend - try and stay cool - someone is coming to repair our fence tomorrow, so hope the rain - if we get any - holds off at least until Sunday.  M xx
