I Was Bored Waiting.....
...and annoyed.
We had a pick-up this morning and arrived at the same time a somebody from another charity.
As usual, I went into the store to let them know we had arrived and were waiting at the rear door.
After half an hour I went in and reminded them that we were waiting.
10 minutes somebody arrived and said "There is nothing for you".
What B*llocks!
What they mean is the nightshift couldn't be a*sed doing what they were went to do.
Very, VERY annoying.
I understand that their management will be getting a visit from 'our' management tomorrow as it isn't the first time it has happened.
So from there SWMBO, myself and my foul mood headed north to have words with the kitchen manufacturers about their lack of response to my phone calls.
We were about to cross the bridge into Fife when I got a call from their head office (which turns out to be in Glasgow!). The -very nice - lady was most apologetic lady explained that she had only just been told of our predicament and was trying to arrange something to get to the bottom of what had gone wrong, what was still to be done and to arrange a time.
We explained that we were on route to the salesroom. She was delighted and after getting a couple of details from us and giving us some information she left us to carry on and would make sure all information co-ordinated and was ready and waiting for us.
We were met at the door by a very pleasant lady who was kind of stuck in the middle but was determined that we were going to leave happy.
It turns out the guy who had turned up to do the snagging (but didn't because he didn't have everything) did a 'moonlight flit' and left no information.
The upshot is, we left with a couple of doors and a handle - so that everything is here when a fitter comes to do the snagging (of which they now have the list). The intention it will be done on Friday (assuming the fitter can leave it to the afternoon as SWMBO has a hospital appointment in the morning).
We shall see!
On the way home we took a diversion to North Queensferry for a coffee and a snack. We ended up having a huge and very tasty 'All Day Lunch'.
Before leaving I complimented a fellow customer on the wonderfully behaved and polite children she had with her (they were about 2 and 4 at the oldest). She was delighted and embarrassed in equal measure.
We then had a wee walk so I could get some pictures. I was determined to try and get at least a couple of non-touristy ones. There is a pile of them HERE.
During the wander we came across a bloke repainting the yellow lines on a very fancy new high-tech machine and making a very good job of it. He got complimented on a job well done (although when we saw him again a few minutes later he apologised for making a bit of a balls up in a tricky tight corner. I wouldn't have noticed).
I couldn't resist taking a picture of the lady tourist, taking a picture of her boyfriend, taking a picture of the rail bridge (although he lowered his phone just as I took my shot).
As we got into the car to leave a foreign lady in another car sneezed and automatically, I said "Bless You". She burst out laughing and thanked me.
So that was 3 people whose spirits were raised in the simplest of ways.
Well ..... it is nice to be nice.
Several times on the radio today there were reports of the thunder storms and rain that Scotland was suffering from.
I can't say I noticed.
It must have been the sweat in my eyes preventing me from seeing the rain. My lathe is very quiet though so I have no idea why I wasn't hearing the thunder - but my word it was hot in the garage when I was making a couple of wee boxes.
