Just four bad boys came
for breakfast but pelicans
and osprey came, too!

At 6 I started off on the same route to Tranquille as I took yesterday. It's a sharp right at the bottom of my hill.

How could I be so lucky to find bighorn sheep two days in a row!!! There were four big rams in the same field as yesterday. I pulled off to the edge of the road to avoid the transport trucks. The sheep don't pay much attention to other than the feast before them. I got a few shots, then moved on to Tranquille Farm at the end of the road.

The wetlands pond looked glittery with the sunshine. I spotted a snarl of pelicans on the farthest edge from the road. They were churning up the water en masse.

At the end of the road I stopped to have a look at the osprey nest. Only one in evidence today. I think it's a young one taking trial flights over the farm. It would launch, then make loops back to the nest. At one point it teetered on an overhead wire. There must be lots for a young osprey to learn.

I started for home backtracking my morning's route. There were the four bighorn rams in the field, still munching their way through the greenery. I pulled into the old driveway to the former Department of Agriculture property. The four decided to hop the rail fence and move up onto the hillside. They made a short stop on the slope to clean off some brush. Then they trooped up the scree into the morning sun and were gone from view.

My daughter and I are off on a road trip to Ashcroft this morning. I need a bag of onions from the Desert Ranch. We'll see what other desert delights they might have for us.
