Spider web
I went for a walk with a friend today over Aylesbeare Common. After yesterday's heat we decided to make an early start. It wasn't really necessary though as it was a cooler cloudy day with a light mist in the air. It did mean that the spiders webs were all glistening though. As we slowly wandered around we saw hardly anyone just one cyclist and a woman with young children by the river. There were very few butterflies out and only two dragonflies. It was a lovely walk though. The vegetation had grown quite a lot since I last visited and we were surprised how lush and large some of the ferns were. Not surprisingly the small river was very low although the ponds still had a fair amount of water in them. At one point I briefly got lost and it was here that the colourful ferns attracted my attention, see extras.
The grey cloudy weather persisted most of the day with a brief glimpse of the sun. I watered the allotment and then returned home as my hairdresser was visiting late afternoon.
