Before and after
I almost forgot to take my before shots this morning. Albert had just started removing the sod, when I said to wait so I could get some photos. We started at 8 am, finished for the day at 2 pm. Everyone took breaks, this is Day 2 of a heat wave. The guys will finish the job tomorrow, they will make a new parking area for a tenant in the back yard.
We took 3 loads of sod to the dump today. We were working in Halifax and there was 2 new people working at C&D on the Halifax side, so they did not know me. The guy asked me what I had on the first load, and I told him 'Sod'. He said 'Grass' and I said 'Yes'. So he sent me to the bay where I usually go with brush. When I am in Dartmouth, he sends me to a different bay to drop off sod. The second load, he sent me to the same bay. The third load, he sent me to a different bay when he could see the dirt in the back. I questioned why he sent me to the brush pile for the first 2 loads. There is a difference in price if I drop dirt at the brush pile vs dropping it in the dirt pile. When I came out, they said there would be no charge for that load because it was their mistake.
Scrolling thru FB after I came home this afternoon and found out there was a forest fire in Bayers Lake behind the Kent Building Supply store. That was around 3 pm. I was at that store around 11 am today. And close to the area at 1 pm. They were quickly able to get some planes from New Brunswick to drop some fire retardant on it, plus the water bombers. It is now under control. A few stores in Bayers Lake were evacuated, and people were asked to stay away from the area. Some roads will remain closed overnight.
I think I figured out why I had an earache last week, and have been having sinus issues and headaches this week. It is from all the smoke in the air. Most days are hazy because of the smoke in the upper atmosphere. This afternoon they issued an air quality advisory because of the fire in Bayers Lake.
