Snowberry Clearwing Moths
I was able to enjoy breakfast on the front porch. It was a bit muggy but worth the solitude. Hubby also spent some time with nature early this morning. He rode our local 10.66 mile bike/walking trail up and back. He said he was happy to see other residents are using it as well. The county is repaving sections of it. The hummingbird moths have arrived. I “chased” two up and down my front flower garden but got no photo. They love bee balm and that garden is full of those blooms. While Momma was having her breakfast and watching the huge collection of butterflies outside the French doors, I spotted two more moths. These two spent more time on the larger butterfly bush blooms. Success. Otherwise, this has been one of the most quiet days we’ve had. Momma’s sores are healing finally. She hasn’t mentioned them all day. I think the new small bandages have helped tremendously. I’ve been keeping her eye hydrated and she hasn’t mentioned it or touched it except for a few times. We’ll have rotisserie chicken for dinner; I’ll make sides. I have two appointments tomorrow. Hubby and I have worked out Momma’s meal plan while I am away. Hopefully everything will so smoothly. Out of the clear blue, I had three friends/relatives write to me today about visiting my mother. We worked out our calendar for the rest of the month to give them options for best days to visit. Guess I’d better plan some desserts to serve. Wishing you advance notice of visitors so you are prepared. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “Hummingbird moths are beloved because of their similarity to hummingbirds in both appearance and behavior, but they also play a crucial ecosystem role as pollinators, Mass Audubon reports. As they move from flower to flower, they incidentally help pollinate these plants, and because they are active later into the day than other pollinating insects like bees, they are particularly crucial pollinators of flowers that bloom late in the day.” - reconnectwithnature.org (There’s a ton of info at this site).
