1000 years old and still growing strong
We visited Rycote Chapple on the Rycote estate in Oxfordshire this morning. The estate is immaculate with it's house, gardens and a very old private chapel. First consecrated in 1449.
I thought I would use this image of a yew tree which is just next tho the chapel. There is some debate about the age of the tree but yew tree experts who regularly visit the tree estimate it to be over 1000 years old. Still growing strongly with a circumference of 25 feet. The experts are members of the Ancient Yew Group.
The extras show the house and the chapel.
It is open to the public.
