On This Day

Harvest

Today is the day for the first tattie howking. I try to have the tatties ready for the grandchildren to harvest at the end of the summer holiday. Here are Cameraman and our grandson digging out the treasure. They're second earlies but I can't for the life of me remember the variety. In the extra the first one to appear. It's always exciting though as far as eating goes I'm not a huge fan of potatoes. Cameraman loves them and I don't dislike them. For carbs I prefer rice though.

There are more tatties for the girls to dig tomorrow but today is all about our grandson. He's  told me in great detail about his recent trip to Poland, about tree felling in the Amazon and its impact on the world's temperature, the melting of the polar ice caps and various other matters.

For something less worrying we are going to do some baking this afternoon and spend more time in the garden. It's a beautiful day here.

Back to school for all three grandchildren on Thursday. The summer holiday has sped by.
