Ladybird puzzle
I was up much too early this morning. The overnight warmth meant that we left all the windows open and unfortunately one of our neighbours is having work done to their house and the scaffolders arrived soon after 6am to start work. While they didn't actually start the really noise stuff until after 7am, I could hear them chatting by their truck and decided that there were better things to do than lie in bed listening to them.
However it did meant that I got out in search of a blip much earlier than I perhaps would otherwise have done. The common darters that had emerged from the pond overnight already had their wings extended. I was going to feature one of them, but then realised that this tired looking 7 spot ladybird was sitting on a little nest of something - I don’t think it’s her own eggs which generally get laid on the underside of leaves.
