Wires, Wires Everywhere

By now everyone knows my feeling about wires. We depend on them for electricity, communication and entertainment. But the electrical ones are notoriously dangerous and all of them are just plain ugly. Every cable company has its own set.The result is a chaotic tangle of wires overhead. I wish they could all be underground. Our power provider, Pacific Gas & Electric, is supposed to be undergrounding lines as part of a settlement for damages caused by fires sparked by faulty electrical lines, but so far all I have been able to see them doing is adding more 'protective' equipment to the already chaotic aboveground wires strung from wooden poles.

We went to see Kathy this morning for the first time in over a month. Vacations, medical emergencies and visitors have caused one or the other of us to have to cancel. It's quite a nice drive to her place, but accomplishing it at 8:30 in the morning is a bit of a stretch for us. Especially when we're out of practice.  Although we're almost always up by 7am, that doesn't mean we're ready to walk out the door and drive someplace. I, for one, am becoming one of those people who can't really function until I've had my coffee. Our departure this morning was needless to say, a bit chaotic.

Two hours later we were home again and I managed to get outside and prune the wayward branches of the olive tree and deadhead some roses. The weather is cooler this week which makes working in the garden a lot more appealing. I also picked a lot more tomatoes. We have a really good crop this year to make up for last year's really bad one. They're all good, but the most delicious ones are dark yellow ones called Yellow Brandywines. Maybe we'll leave some on the doorstep of our neighbor who leaves home baked cookies on ours....

I feel just a bit beleaguered today....living under a government run by a hateful bully, a cold call that almost caught John in an elaborate but thinly veiled hoax, and a misplaced phone all conspired to make me want to take a nap. I eventually found my phone and headed off the cold call before any damage was done. It didn't help that we saw a huge sign on a fence near Kathy's house that said, TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. I can't do anything about the president  But, for once, I think I will take a nap...
