Finally
I had a quiet start to today then headed out to the Vodafone shop to try to find out what happened to my European coverage on my phone. All's well now, but I don't want to wait till I'm in Europe again to discover that my phone still won't work there. As I feared, the shop staff weren't any help, apparently I'm going to have to phone the tech team to move things forward. I'll wait till I've a few lifetimes to spare then try again. 4th time lucky!
We dropped a card into Katy and Jon, today is their 18th wedding anniversary. Such a lot has changed, 18 years ago I still had a perfectly capable father and off the wall lovely crazy sister. Now I have neither.
We carried on into Leith and wandered Leith Walk for a while then settled down for some lunch at Sweetland Cafe. We've been there before, they do a perfectly acceptable light lunch. Just across the road was the ghost sign in my blip for the Victoria India Rubber Mills. Opened in the 1890s, the sign is all that remains, partly obscured now by a mess of wires. I presume they are telecom cables. There is such a horrible mass of them everywhere. It seems to be acceptable just to drape them everywhere with no care for appearance or safety, with no need to remove ones which are now redundant This collection was by no means the worst.
I was very surprising to see the Frida Kahlo fabrics in a dressmakers window. They make a wonderful colourful display.
After a roast chicken for dinner tonight, we settled down to Monday TV quiz night and were pleased with our performance in both Only Connect and University Challenge. We don't watch Mastermind as we both find it rather irritating.
So that was Monday. I've two friends having surgery tomorrow so they were very much on my mind this evening.
