Apéro convivial
This week's Sunday lunch was replaced by a more casual and less labour-intensive apéro convivial. Plates of cheese and charcuterie, ice creams optional. It was extremely hot and has only got hotter since -- 40C in the late afternoon. The apero was well attended -- it must have been more than 50 people because the food ran out. Good to see everyone relaxing and enjoying themselves. But once again we feel very lucky, with the fire coming so close but never really threatening us.
Good news this afternoon -- the fire is now maîtrisé, ie under control. But vigilance is still needed to extinguish any hot spots that catch fire again, and it's a vast area (bigger than Paris) requiring air patrols. Investigations into how it started are still under way while stupid conspiracy theories proliferate on social media.
