I was on my way up the hill to Paul Lake at 5:30. I am avoiding the city as there's far too much activity there. As usual, I'm seeking 'nature' for some peace and tranquility.
There were no horses anywhere in sight this morning, but at the first turn I saw a bear walk across the road and amble into a grassy spot. I caught it in retreat.
Lakeside, I found all the ducks sleeping with their heads tucked under their wings. I disturbed them with my walking about. Some slid into the water and quietly paddled away.
The construction at the west end of the lake continues so I had to pick my way around the equipment. I got my shot of the lake with lovely reflections.
I found only one occupant at the osprey nest so I hope all is well. It sits rather near the work zone.
On the way back down to the city I spied five deer beside the road having a feast. I could see two spotted fawns. The adults kept a wary eye on me, but continued to enjoy their breakfast.
I'm home for the day. My daughter is up early and about to go out to pick fireweed blossoms with her friends. I promised to have dinner ready when she returns.
