Solace Day 3 - under instruction
As I said in yesterday's shot of "the crew" the girls are only with us for a couple of nights. So today is their only full dawn to dusk day. Emily was keen to have a go at steering so Auntie Kat took on that job. Kat is probably the best helmsman (should that be helmswoman to remain PC) among us. Beginners often find helming a narrowboat odd, as they have to move the tiller in the opposite direction to the way you want the bow to go.
As the girls are leaving us tomorrow we needed to turn round. So when we arrived at Fradley Junction Emily who had been very good at getting out and working locks along with he Mum elected to wait at the lock while Kat took the boat to turn in the junction. Her Mum and I walked down to watch. While we were away the nice lady volunteer allowed Emily to help her bring other boats through the locks.
