Domestic
In the interests of relaxing more and doing less, I have bought myself a television to replace the one that the removal people broke five years ago. Not only that, but because technology has moved on and I really haven't a clue how TVs work, nor whether the aerial that the deeply unreliable electrician promised to instal in the loft is actually there, I am going to pay someone to set it up and explain it to me next week.
Problem is, working out how the room is going to be meant I had to empty a bookcase, ease it out of its alcove and laboriously cut a hole in the back to expose the electric sockets that have been hidden behind it, then move it back. I had to shuffle books around and move my DVDs (told you I haven't kept up with technology). I also moved my hi-fi to the other side of the room and excavated my CDs (stop laughing at the back, please). Huge bonus - I played some. Hi-fi may be outdated, but good quality sound back then is still good quality sound now. The radio tuner isn't working, which may be to do with my super-thick insulated walls, but I can ask the TV aerial expert about that when he comes.
So the closest I got to the water butts today was taking my bike to the bike shop for new brake shoes and asking whether they could let me have an old inner tube to make rubber washers in the hope of stemming the leaks around the taps.
Tomorrow, maybe.
What are the chances of my being able to stay still long enough to watch TV?
