The Lozarithm Lens

Calne (Friday 8th August 2025)

While I was in Calne still trying to sort flat battery problems I noticed this plant growing against the vet's wall and liked the shadows. I think it is Rough Hawkbit (Leontodon hispidus).

Thanks to Miranda1008 for the WildFlower Challenge and BikerBear for Flower Friday.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Roy Hamilton - The Dark End of the Street (recorded 1969, Memphis TN)
Written in the summer of 1966 by Dan Penn and Chips Moman and given to James Carr to record, this cheatin' song has had an afterlife in versions by Richard and Linda Thompson, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Aretha Franklin and Cat Power among others, but until I found it on Dave Godin's Deep Soul Treasures (Vol. 4) I had never heard this single by Roy Hamilton, recorded in the last few months of his life, and which James Carr considered to rival his own original version.
