A Cheeky Flower Shot

It’s no fun having to get ready on an empty stomach. I had to fast for 12 hours from yesterday evening ready for a cholesterol blood test at 9.30 this morning. I was seen early by the nurse and was out of the GP Surgery before I was in. I walked home again for the delayed bowl of porridge before going back up the road for an appointment with the hairdresser, my second one with Kara. Everyone has something slightly weird about the way their hair curls, kinks or falls and I am no exception. With the advance of age, my fringe has gone quite silver and less weighty on one side but has remained a bit darker, glossier and heavier on the other, making it hang unevenly. Kara has tried out a little magic with her scissors to improve the look, so fingers crossed that we might have cracked the problem. On the walk back, I called in at Tesco’s to cheekily snatch a couple of flower photos, bold as brass. I liked the colour scheme of this bouquet, and the stocks in it smelt divine.

I went over to Daphne’s house later in the afternoon. She lost her dear husband Roger not too long ago, and they were friends with Mum and Dad. The previous Rector of St Luke’s, Martin, has been down this way on a break from his parish in Yorkshire the past couple of days and he paid Daphne a visit today. Roger was a retired priest who used to help out covering some of the services. Martin knew them all well and, although I didn’t attend church quite as regularly when he was Rector, he did get to know me too. So it was nice to call in at Daphne’s for a while to say hello and have a catch up.

Still nothing from eBay or the supplier re the barcode needed to collect my mail order toothpaste supply. I have a feeling this is going to be a money-back-guarantee job, hence I have ordered some more from a different supplier in anticipation. It’s a special toothpaste called Oranurse which contains no flavouring or preservatives, and you can’t get it in the shops. A few years ago I developed an allergic reaction to the bog-standard brands like Sensodyne, Colgate, Oral-B etc, which all now make my tongue burn painfully. So you can see why this particular parcel is so important. Hopefully the new order should be arriving tomorrow.
