A friend and I did a ‘Theatre and Entertainment Tour’ in Glasgow city centre today meeting at St Enoch Subway Station at 10.30. Our tour guide Judith, was excellent, very knowledgeable and highly entertaining. The tour takes you around the city centre to locations where the first theatres from 1789 onwards were located, all long gone now with the exception of the Britannia Panopticon, which is the world’s oldest surviving music hall. I have often wanted to visit this building and was thrilled to eventually be there today.
Afterwards we went to Cafe Gandolfi, another Glasgow institution in the Merchant City that I had never been to, for a delicious lunch and a viewing of a lovely art exhibition in the upstairs bar.
What a wonderful day!
