Flying Home

After a morning of packing and cleaning my cousin‘s little london flat, we went home.
P still didn’t feel so well this morning, so I booked a minicab to take us to London City airport. It’s a small airport, so there’s no need to walk for miles to get to your gate; but it’s also really crowded and the shops are tiny. The only bookshop had way more sweets, snacks and tacky souvenirs than actual books. This must be my first ever trip to Britain when I don’t come home with at least one new book.

We went to the gate and watched the starting planes (main blip), before our plane came in with a delay. But by the time we arrived in Frankfurt, a strong tailwind had helped make up for the lost time. The rest of the journey was painless, and we are back home with our cats.

In the extra: Some pictures taken from the plane - the Thames Barrier, Canvey Island on the shore of the Thames Estuary, and my mother‘s village in the Taunus hills, which I happened to recognise while we were approaching Frankfurt.
