Yellow………
………. Kōwhai Flowers
Kōwhai trees are small, woody legume - the genus Sophora is native to New Zealand.
The name Kōwhai comes from the Māori word for yellow—a reference to the colour of the flower.
Their natural habitat is beside streams and on the edges of forest, in lowland or montane open areas.
Kōwhai trees grow throughout the country and are a common feature in New Zealand gardens
The flowers hold great appeal to native birds - Tui, Wood Pigeon and Bellbird enjoy the nectar.
It’s been a busy day and no internet access until tonight so I’m very
late uploading my blip.
PS
Yesterday’s blip made a very brief appearance on the Spotlight today.
Thank you everyone who stopped by to look - and to those of
you who left lovely comments, stars and hearts, an extra thank you.
