Now, as I see it......

Wymondham Abbey

We had to go down to Wymondham this morning so after we had finished what we were doing we drove down to Wymondham Abbey for a look.  The Abbey is all that remains of a monastery that was in existence until the dissolution by Henry VIII but is in great condition and is beautiful inside.  The grounds have an old arch from the original monastery buildings and whilst there are a few ruins visible, most are in the adjoining sheep field which is not open to the public.

The Abbey is very close to the southern terminus of the Mid-Norfolk Railway so we walked down for a look even though I knew no trains were due.  A nice little station, and opposite is a park from where I took this shot of the Abbey.

We stopped at 'The Painted Barn' in Barnham Broom on the way home.  We'd passed it on the way there and both thought we had heard of it; probably featured in one of the free Norfolk glossy magazines.  A restaurant in a lovely setting on a working farm, and the food from the 'Brunch' menu was very good.  Not worth the trip from home just to go there but if we were in the area again it is definitely worth a detour.
