Thill sinn dhachaigh trath

Dh’fhàg sinn an t-Eilean Sgitheanach an-dè. Bha dragh oirnn mu Stoirm Floras.

This wasn't the view we were expecting to wake up to (see extra for that). However, like many others, we'd be following weather updates in light of the Amber Warning for Storm Floris. We had thought about leaving really early this morning but when the forecast suggested fiercer winds in the morning we decided to leave last night just before 8 - we'd probably have spent the evening and night worrying about travel conditions anyhow.

The journey home was straightfoward with the exception of a planned closure on A86 at Laggan. There were hourly amnesties in place to let traffice through and we arrived 15 minutes before the 22.00 one - although we didn't get moving until 22.15 as northbound traffic was let through first. Still it could have been worse.

Safely home, we slept well and have now had the morning to get unpacked, do washing and stake sunflowers.

The wind is beginning to pick up here and there is already evidence of branches which have been brought down.
