A Fun Day
G and K arrived late morning…K was running a half marathon from Spittal to Holy Island. I put some lunch together for me and G whilst they went to register at 12.30 so we were ready in plenty of time to be back at the start before the 2 pm kick off. We met one of my nephews at the start with his family, I expected his wife to be running but she was resting after doing a 100 miles two weeks ago so G was doing this one. Once they set off we all headed to Holy Island to see the finish.
G and I were queuing for ice creams when R and the kids arrived behind us so we all wandered to the finish, near the castle, enjoying a cone each. We didn’t have very long to wait for the first runner…my nephew was first off the start line and had maintained the lead the whole way, he arrived in 1 hour 21 minutes, a full 4 minutes ahead of the next guy. K was somewhat slower at 2 hours 50 minutes but still very credible, she’d found the terrain very tough but arrived in tact. By the time we got back to the car and off the island it was getting on for 6pm when they dropped me off. I’ve now got a small boy here overnight for a Granny Carol day tomorrow.
My blip is K posing at the start, in extras a collage of G’s start and finish and another of K’s.
