A sunny start

I headed out early to get my own steps in before heading to Parkrun so the lads could get their runs in  As I was out at 6am it was much cooler for me. I thought I would have to backtrack at one point as a big gang of sheep had jumped out of their field onto one of the bridleways that I was plodding along.  Thankfully they all leapt back in as I approached.  The two in the extra were a bit stubborn and hung about until I got really close but eventually decided to join the rest of their mates over the hedge.

At Parkrun, Bobbie and I sat and enjoyed the sun on our backs whilst we chatted and let Ian and Leo did the hard work of running. We found a new use for Life360. We used it to track the lads on the way around the course so we knew when to head to the finish line to cheer them home.

After that a restorative cuppa and slice of cake was needed so we headed to the Dovetail Cafe at the Antiques Village.  We were actually there a little before they opened - we are always later if I walk the Parkrun course!

Ian also fancied a trip to the cake shed so we swung by Tiverton on our way home. Ian had a tea cake at the Dovetail Cafe so he could have his favourite chocolately cake from the shed later.

League 1 kicked off and Exeter’s first game was away at Doncaster. i watched it on Sky but what a hard watch that was!  It doesn’t bode well if that is how we are going to play all season!  It ended with a 1-0 win for Doncaster and we didn’t look challenging at all.  Ah well, let’s hope it is all upwards from this point on.

I also enjoyed some more entertaining TV by watching Now Voyager for the umpteenth time and then the Australian Force of Nature: The Dry 2.  I will have to catch The Dry and hope that watching them in the wrong order doesn’t matter too much.
