Marjorie's ramblings

Coffee in Corbridge

The other Marjorie and her friend, Mary, always go to Il Piccolo for coffee on Saturday mornings. I was invited today.

We had a wide ranging discussion, dealing with and dismissing ailments, me talking about Iceland, concerts, baroque ornamentation, films and most importantly, things that make us laugh.

We had two coffees each (or in Marjorie’s case an ice cream then a coffee) so we had plenty of time to chat.

I was going to go to see Maureen, but it was lunchtime so I came home via a quick trip to Aldi. Someone I know was visiting for the first time but was disappointed not to find soya milk yoghurt. I told her it is my favourite supermarket, but you can’t get everything…..

I am still very tired.  I did a bit of photo editing.

I have hit a brick wall with uploading the next update of Photoshop. The C drive on my computer will not take it. As I understand it, I cannot put programme files on the D drive. Oh dear!

I submitted 5 images to the holidays WhatsApp group.

This evening, there was a surprise party for Herbie and Suzanne who both celebrated their 70 birthdays recently. They are stalwarts of every important activity in the village.

The hall was packed. We had to be quiet until they were brought by their grandchildren at 7pm and knocked on the door, I suspect that the tinsel and fairy lights may have been a give away, but we all shouted SURPRISE.

Old friends and family had travelled a long wat and there were videos from those who could not make it. We had a shared supper, then a ceilidh. I love ceilidhs, but my knee prevented me from dancing, so I came away during the evening. It was very noisy and hard to talk.

What a lovely happy evening. Herbie has just completed a bike ride from Lands End to John O’Groats. He did it when he was 50 and wanted to see if he could do it again at 70!

My blip is from the Italian restaurant.
