Herbaceous perennials
Today's the day ....................... to garden
I've spent most of this gloriously warm, sunny day in the garden, trying to restore a bit of order after being away. I've been allowing myself alternating spells of what I would call 'nice' weeding (in the rockery) - and severe hacking back (most other places) - but it has all been good because I've been in my happy place.
I'm so pleased with the new border, which has come on a treat, Everything I've planted has grown really well. It's now a riot of colour and absolutely humming with bees and other insects. The Speckled Wood butterfly in extras was sunning itself on one of the paving slabs. It was lovely to see it, but I knew that the last time I had seen one was at Threave Castle Nature Reserve when we were with Mr and Mrs Knottman. So that made me slightly sad.
But not for long - because I have nothing but happy memories of time spent with them both .....................
