Dog and view
I woke to clear sky and -3C: a frost which didn't lift until 11am. As a result Bean and I had a cosy morning in the study with the potbelly keeping us warm. As you can see the sun is getting into the study again, after eight mid-winter weeks when it never gets above the hill behind the building.
I had a list of admin tasks which had been stacking up for just such a morning as this. By the time I decided it was time for brunch, all those tasks were done. I quickly put together some food in the truck (the location of the kitchen) and took it back to the warm zone to enjoy, while catching up on this week's episodes of The Archers.
The closing down of BBCSounds for overseas listeners last week caused me some consternation, because I can no longer listen to most BBC Radio stations any more. While Radio 4 is still accessible, it is only live - there is no playback now. Programmes which are broadcast as podcasts have taken some hunting down.
And while I can continue to listen to The Archers, others are no longer available, including (horror of horrors) no more I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, to which I have listened since the 1970s (and the halcyon days of Humph). And no more Just a Minute, so their claim to have listeners 'from around the world' will no longer be true.
My apologies to Blippers who aren't BBC radio listeners and won't have a clue what I'm rambling on about.
Thank you for the good wishes yesterday. They worked. I had a very sound sleep and have felt absolutely fine today. Whatever was wrong, it's gone.
I have celebrated by making an Orkney Farmhouse cheese.
