Family Matters
We had unexpected overnight visitors last night. Our eldest son and his wife had come up from Hampshire to see a matinée performance of Evita at the London Palladium as an early celebration for our daughter-in-law’s birthday which falls tomorrow. They then boarded a train home from Waterloo but their homeward journey was stopped abruptly and the train stayed stationary for an hour. Sadly someone had lost their life on the rails further down the line and all the passengers were stranded because the power was switched off for several hours.
R & T managed to make their way to a tube station and cross London to come and stay with us, which was an unexpected bonus for us, but for a very sad reason.
They left early this morning to get back home, and then a large part of my afternoon was then spent going through two family history binders which one of my cousins left with me some months ago. They belonged to his late sister who, like me, was a keen family historian. I’ve been scanning everything that is of interest to me so that I can give the folders back when my cousin comes here for a visit again in a couple of weeks. I had taken no other photos today, so this shot is a reminder to myself of what I was up to today.
