Stained Glass Butterflies
"Sometimes I only need to stand wherever I am to be blessed."
~ Mary Oliver.
We had a heat advisory for several days this week; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were quite hot, and as you know, I'm no fan of the big heat. Fortunately for me, the weather turned the temperature down a bit by Thursday, and I took my bike down to Autumn Meadow Park first thing.
I discovered at least two monarchs frolicking about in the pollinator garden there. The garden isn't huge, but it is well appointed, with a diversity of blooms and plants that butterflies adore. The light was good and sometimes the butterflies, backlit by the morning rays, seemed like they had stained glass windows for wings!
In other news, the plumber came on this day and replaced the faucet cartridge on the bathtub. The faucet was fussy for years before this, and sported a small leak for quite some time before it turned into a major leak on July 7th. I'd been capturing the water that leaked in a blue basin, and distributing it throughout our house and yard for use. My husband and I had agreed not to shower at home until it was fixed, so we've been taking our showers in state parks.
So, as of this day, I am glad to inform you that I am no longer playing a lead role in the Sorcerer's Apprentice, hauling buckets of water up and down up and down up and down the stairs. And we can take showers at HOME again, any time we want to! (Oh, it's the LITTLE things you take for granted!) Hooray!
I wish I knew of a church that had stained glass featuring butterflies in every window. But I do not. So I will just dream one up and make it from scratch! Welcome to my church! Our soundtrack song is Maren Morris, with My Church. Here is the music video, and here is a live performance that ought to make you want to get up and shout Hallelujah!
Bonus: more butterflies on Instagram.
