Mrs Wood Pigeon on her nest in our tree. 7:45 am.

I was up early to set the washing machine going as it might possibly be a dry day today. After making a mug of tea I wandered up the garden in my dressing gown. It’s a cool morning, with fitful sunshine appearing against the back drop of what I would call shower clouds. At the moment they are highlighting the bright orange and red rowan berries which are gradually being stripped off by the blackbird and the rooks from time to time.
The bird feeders are busy already. Goldfinches, bluetits and the sparrows, with my favourite woodpecker dropping by now and again.
I went to see how our resident Wood Pigeons were doing,
The sun was shining through the leaves of the tree at that point so I hazarded a photo. It is a well hidden nest, but if I stand directly underneath the tree by the summerhouse and look up through the branches, there is just a small gap which enables me to see it. I used my iPhone and zoomed in! Hoping for the best!
When I looked at it I could see the sun had just lit up the tip of her beak. At least I am assuming it is mum. They do share in sitting on the nest. Co-parenting!
Time for breakfast after I’ve hung out the washing. Fingers crossed it stays dry! Almost August……
